What we collect and why

Contract means we need this data to provide the service you signed up for. Consent means you actively opted in and can withdraw at any time. Legitimate interest means we have a reasonable business need that doesn't override your rights.
What we don't collect

- We don't sell or share your data for advertising
- We don't show ads
Who sees your data
- Other players in your games see your display name, avatar, videos, comments, and chat messages
- Supabase hosts our database and file storage
- PostHog processes anonymous app usage analytics
- Apple processes your sign-in via Sign in with Apple
- No one else
Data transfers
Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure. It may be processed outside the UK. Where this happens, we rely on Supabase's data protection measures and standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep your data
Your data exists as long as your account does. Videos are stored for the lifetime of the game they belong to. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Export your data in a portable format
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Withdraw consent at any time
To exercise any of these rights, email feedback@simonluo.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
Push notifications
We send push notifications for game events (new challenges, submissions, eliminations, chat). You can disable these in iOS Settings at any time.
Children
Captains is not intended for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Complaints
If you're not happy with how we handle your data, you can contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and notify you in the app where possible.
